Air Street’s track record
Why that matters when raising
The sector label is a starting point
Alta Ares raised €50 million for air defence, and an AI specialist led the round. The French company announced its Series A in June, led by Air Street Capital, alongside Cherry Ventures, OTB Ventures and Harpoon Ventures.
It develops systems that combine AI for detection, tracking and guidance with interceptor hardware.
Air Street’s track record
Air Street’s involvement makes sense when you look at its history:
Modern Intelligence, backed in 2021
Lambda Automata, Series B led in 2023
Alta Ares, €50 million Series A led in 2026
An investor specialising in AI has built a defence portfolio over several years.
Why that matters when raising
A list of dedicated defence funds would miss Air Street. A list built around relevant technology and previous investments would find it.
The qualification still matters. Does the fund’s mandate allow the product? Can it fund hardware development? Can it stay invested through procurement delays?
The sector label is a starting point
For founders, the opportunity is to identify investors whose existing thesis already fits what they are building. The sector label is only the starting point.
Thanks to Hugo Hamon for flagging Alta Ares in the comments on my earlier post.
